THE LCBO NOW REFUSES TO LET CUSTOMERS MAKE CERTAIN PURCHASES
HOW SO?
Number 1: Free customer-requested inter-LCBO-store transfers are no longer permitted. Number 2: LCBO stores with remaining stock are not allowed to to ship a PAID-FOR ON-LINE STORE ORDER directly to a customer even at the customer's expense. All orders must be personally picked up which is not possible for customers not living in th store's vicinity.
As a result tens of thousands of bottles remain on LCBO store shelves unsold due to this customer-unfriendly policy. After 60 days LCBO can DISCOUNT THE PRICE OF AN ITEM BY 20% - usually at the supplier's expense. Unfortunately, the same thing happens. Stores are clogged more than ever with slow-moving remnants of unsold stock. FINAL RESULT: LCBO profitability tanks, huge losses for producers/agents, rising customer dissatisfaction and a major reduction in government revenues.
These changes in LCBO merchandising policies have greatly damaged the ability of consumers to buy wines still available! The LCBO needlessly imposes significant financial penalties on producers and importers for not selling 75% of within 60 days. The LCBO's current Merchandising policies are a colossal failure and should be investigated and addressed immediately by the Ford government.

Dense, Ripe, Cassis-Cherry-Plum ***/***+ (94 points)
Extremely deep intense dark purple red colour. Intense, complex, slightly spicy, gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged, rich, ripe plum nose with hints of smoky autumnal roasted chestnuts. Dry, medium-full bodied, very well structured, dense, ripe, cassis-plum-black-cherry flavours with a lingering, cedary, bright, faintly savoury, harmonious, sandalwood-tinged finish. This outstanding 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 28 months on fine lees in 90% French and 10% American barrels. It has 15% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and is UNFILTERED (explaining the great mouthfeel and ageability). It was bottled on August 8, 2019 and only 7,374 bottles were produced. This is my best value red of the year!

Showing beautifully now, this 2020 has a lighter medium-deep red colour. Very attractive, bright, gently juicy, ripe, plummy-blueberry-cherry nose with some red licorice notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, slightly spicy, appealing, fresh, ripe plum-cherry-raspberry fruit flavours with a lingering, well balanced, lifted, sandalwood-tinged finish. This very tasty 100% Xinomavro was aged for 12 months in used French (90%) and American oak. Versatile and perfectly ready-to-drink especially with Easter ham, lamb and/or poultry. this crowd-pleaser has 14% alcohol and only 2 g/L residual sugar. The regular price is $19.95 - don't miss it.

right very pale straw colour. Intense, fresh cut grass, slightly spicy, yellow grapefruit aromas with some mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, bright, gently grassy, lemon-apple-grapefruit flavours with a lingering, crisp, refreshing, mineral-tinged finish. A ready-to-drink,extremely well priced, Sancerre-inspired white that would be terrific with seafood, especially oysters. It has 12.5% alcohol. 2.5 g/L residual sugar and an excellent hefty 7.2 g/L total acidity with a cork finish. A small portion is barrel fermented for 3 months and the balance is aged on the lees in stainless steel.

Here is a NEW in Vintages extraordinary Torrontes that would be sensational with sushi and hot Asian-inspired cuisine. Bright light straw colour this 100% Torrontes has a very attractive, spicy, complex, intense, faintly lychee-tunged, ripe-yellow-grapefruit aromas with an abunda230619-Vintage-Delistnce of minerality along with some hints of citrus. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, mouthfilling, intense, rather grippy, Asian pear flavours with a lingering, very faintly lychee, citrusy, crisp finish. It has 13.5% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 8 g/L total acidity with lot number L044-23 on the back label.

This NEW in Vintages June 10th Flagship store exclusive is one of the best méthode champenoise releases I have tasted in quite some time. The fact that it has an attractive albeit rather flamboyant label and is 100% Chenin Blanc originally made me hesitant. Thankfully it is produced by Ken Forrester one of South Africa’s top producers. Quite frankly, it could be mistaken for a premium Champagne at three times the price. Bright medium straw colour with a very fine mousse and excellent effervescence. Complex, intense, very slightly spicy, ripe, citrus-tinged, ripe melon and lemon-apple meringue fruit with some gently toasty, minerally notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, intense, attractive, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, crisp, bright, brioche-tinged finish. Prior to tirage the wine aged for 8 months on lees and then 28 months in the bottle before being disgorged on November 21, 2022. It has 12% alcohol, 6.8 g/L total acidity and only 3.8 g/L residual sugar (almost a Brut Nature) with lot number L22325 on the back label.
