Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer JACQUART
Now tasted twice out of two bottles both purchased at the LCBO. This is a truly terrific 2008 Champagne at a price that will drive Champagne connoisseurs crazy. It has never appeared in Vintages before and there are only 69 cases of 6. Contrary to the LCBO's posted website tasting note, this has ELEVEN (not six) YEARS on the lees and was disgorged in the Spring of 2020. It has a light yellow colour with good effervescence. The nose is lovely, complex and intense with ripe lemon-apple meringue fruit along with buttery, toasty notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, maturing, ripe lemon-apple meringue flavours with a long, mouthfilling, fairly high acid, rather dense, harmonious, toasty, macadamia nut finish. It’s a goût Anglais style that reminds me of some of the Champagnes tasted with Remy Krug. A great food Champagne - perfect with roast quail in a reduced truffle beurre noir. This 50-50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir has 12.08% alcohol. 8.3 g/L dosage residual sugar and 7.2 g/L total acidity with lot number L7J084B807608 on the capsule. BRAVO! CSPC 19359

TASTING NOTE: This Champagne is a near 50-50 split of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a dash more Chardonnay in the final blend. Aged for six years on the lees, it will continue to evolve for another 3+ years. It features layered, complex notes of apple, hazelnut, almond, fruit and minerality, with a refined tension and richness. Price $ 74.95
