EL GORÚ MONASTRELL/SYRAH/PETIT VERDOT 2018 DOP Jumilla
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer EGO BODEGAS
This new Vintages Essential was assessed from the newly-designed bottle purchased at the LCBO. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Juicy, bright, attractive, ripe, black-cherry-cassis purée nose with some spicy, gently cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, smooth albeit quite well structured, very spicy, attractive, bright, ripe plummy-black-cherry purée flavours with a tangy, lingering, ready-to-drink, cassis-tinged finish. This well-priced, versatile, crowd-pleaser is a blend of 50% Monastrell, 30% Syrah and 20% Petit Verdot that was barrel aged for several months in American oak. It has 14% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with a NEW lot number L-G20083 on the back label. Meanwhile, here is Tony Aspler’s tasting note from November 27th - BEST BUY - A true bargain! Deep ruby in colour; spicy, toasty, lightly smoky nose of baked plums; medium to full-bodied, dry. Spicy and savoury black fruit flavours with lively acidity. CSPC 443945
