Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer KIR YIANNI
The best to date, discounted $2 a bottle and showing beautifully now. This 2020 has a lighter medium-deep red colour and a very attractive, bright, gently juicy, ripe, plummy-blueberry-cherry nose with some red licorice notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, slightly spicy, appealing, fresh, ripe plum-cherry-raspberry fruit flavours with a lingering, well balanced, lifted, sandalwood-tinged finish. This very tasty 100% Xinomavro was aged for 12 months in used French (90%) and American oak. Perfectly ready-to-drink, it has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L11023Y on the back label. CSPC 14151

TASTING NOTE: A spicy grape native to Greece, Xinomavro (ksee-NOH-mah-vroh) is well-known for its bold, tangy character, which should come as no surprise since its name loosely translates to \"black acid.\" With aromas of black olive, star anise, leather and espresso, this hearty red will make a lovely accompaniment to lamb gyros.
