LES COTES DE L'OUEST SYRAH 2014 California |

DOMAINE DE LA TERRE ROUGE |
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Don’t miss this remarkable, ready-to-enjoy, solid, ripe Syrah. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Attractive, ripe, gently juicy, intense, ripe black-cherry-raspberry-cassis nose with some, slightly earthy, cedar-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, complex, faintly earthy, bright, intense, ripe, black-cherry-cassis flavours with a long, lingering, complex, high acid, rather cedary, savoury finish. This delicious blend of 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier was aged 17 months in 20% new and 80% used French oak barrels. It has 14.5% alcohol, 4 g/L residual sugar and 6.3 g/L total acidity with lot number 316-1724 on the lower part of the glass bottle. It has a “California” designation because 60% of the blend comes from a vineyard that is planted in the hills just west of the Amador County line, just a few miles from the Mokelumne River in Clements Hills (a new Lodi sub-appellation). NEW in Vintages. |
