RESERVA 2016 DOC Douro
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer QUINTA DO SAGRADO
A REPEAT of the recommended 2016 (***) was released on November 23, 2019 at $24.95. Here is my original tasting note: Extremely deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, bright, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, fairly dense, harmonious, well structured, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, high acid, gently cedary finish. This blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) was aged in French oak for 18 months and has 14.5% alcohol and now 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L-SAREST16 on the back label. TASTING NOTE: This fine wine comes from an excellent Douro vintage. The wine's weight and concentration show that, at four years, it is still aging. There is a touch of maturity in the secondary flavors that are creeping in, but the wine's wonderful fruit is still very present. Drink from 2021. Score - 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Aug. 1, 2020) Price $ 31.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
Tasting Date vintages release - July 22, 2023
