| Bright extremely pale straw colour. Slightly spicy, mineral-tinged, slightly dusty, lemon-apple nose. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, tangy, fresh, apple-lemon flavours with a very crisp, unoaked finish. Ready-to-drink. Has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. | TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Avesso Edição Nacional \"Covela\" has been seen before, but as the lone representative this issue for Covela (its wines were mostly reviewed in the June issue), it's worth another look as it was poured again at the winery. It's terrific, certainly one of the best Avesso offerings I've seen, on this trip or overall. Big and mouthfilling, it seems rich and concentrated (relative to the region, of course). It simply grips the palate. It adds that caressing texture that I so often see from Avesso and ends with that hint of minerality. It is more expressive now than when I first saw it. My only question with Avesso these days is - will they age well enough to reward the enthusiasm in the region for it? That remains unclear, but be that as it may, this is wonderful just now and a terrific bargain. Just in case there is any doubt - this is dry, unoaked and not carbonated. Drink date: 2016-2020.
