QUADRUS RED 2017 DOP Douro |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
QUADRUS |
This excellent 2017 has an intense purple colour and an attractive, ripe, plum-black-cherry-cassis nose along with some sandalwood-cedar notes. It’s dry, medium to medium-full bodied, harmonious and well structured with ripe, intense, Damson plum, black cherry and cassis flavours with well structured, sandalwood-cedar notes on the lingering finish. Quite extracty with excellent mouthfeel, this ripe blend of 55% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz and 15% Sousao has 14% alcohol and according to the LCBO reduced to 3 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2017 vintage was hot and dry, resulting in an early yet abundant harvest for rich, age-worthy wines. This blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Sezão (formerly Sousão/Souzão) is elegant and plump, with notes of blackberry, dark cherry, licorice root, and sweet tobacco. It will drink well now or can be cellared well into 2028 and beyond. |
