XINOMAVRO 2020 PGI Slopes of Paiko
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer KECHRIS
NEW in Vintages. This interesting appealing rendition of Xinomavro is often compared to Barolo’s Nebbiolo - think of raspberry, tangy plum sauce, anise, allspice and tobacco with only a medium-deep garnet- red colour. This one has a bright, somewhat woodsy, nut-tinged nose with very dry, medium bodied but dense, firm, still youthful, plum flavours followed up by a lingering, rather high acid, still grippy finish. Like Barolo, it is a tad on the light side and shows best with a high protein, well-marbled steak. With 13.5% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar, the best is yet to come with another year of aging on the unfiltered single vineyard effort. CSPC 33262

TASTING NOTE: This Xinomavro shows layered vanilla and coffee tones from the year it spent in oak, but there's plenty of bold, ripe cherry, black currant and plum fruit as well, alongside vivid spices. Enjoy it through early 2030s with grilled sausages or roast lamb. Price $ 29.95
