THE PRISONER PINOT NOIR 2021 Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
THE PRISONER WINE COMPANY |
This Vintages premium Sonoma Coast blend of 93% Pinot Noir and 7% Syrah has a rather deep red colour with an intense, gently complex, ripe, Damson plum nose with black cherry and cassis notes plus a touch of oak. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, very gently spicy, quite rich, ripe, plummy, red and black cherry purée fruit flavours with a lingering, fairly intense, well balanced, bright finish. Aged in French oak barrels for 16 months - 40% new, it has 14.5% alcohol and under 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number 5040322 and L000923 on the lower part of the glass bottle. This attractive, wide-appeal, food-friendly, New World take on Pinot Noir will certainly have it’s fans regardless of the price. |

TASTING NOTE: Sourcing grapes from the northern region of Sonoma and the southerly reaches of Carneros results in spicy, fruity Pinot Noir. A backbone of bracing acidity adds structure to the notes of ripe red fruit such as raspberry, cranberry, pine nettle and cinnamon. Pair with sweet-and-savoury honey-glazed ham. |
