CHÂTEAU GEMEILLAN 2014

Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

This actual blend in this long-deceased 7-year-old tasting note in the Vintages Catalogue is 53% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. It still has a fairly youthful deep intense garnet-red colour. The nose shows good intensity and has sandalwood-tinged, gently complex, faintly earthy, ripe, maturing plum-cherry fruit. Dry, medium bodied and well structured, the now-firming-up, very faintly metallic, plum fruit is classic old-style Medoc, the perfect foil for roast beef. A well-priced, still perfectly sound, Concours Mondial Bruxelles 2016 Gold Medal winner is still alive and kicking. It has 13% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L14-3 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: 45% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. There is a lovely depth of fruit on the nose, the palate has beautiful density of dark cherries and smokey hints, with freshness and very silky tannins, lively refreshing and very satisfying. Score - 94 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2016) |
