BAROLO 2019 DOCG |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PRUNOTTO |
A rather pale slightly ambering light red colour. Elegant, very slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry-cassis fruit on the nose with some faint forest floor notes. Dry, medium bodied, attractive, harmonious, very slightly spicy, bright, forward, ripe plum-cherry-raspberry flavours with rounded tannins and a lingering, pretty, faintly berryish, faint red licorice-tinged finish. Quite delicious, silky and perfect for current consumption, it has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L2180 on the lower part of the glass bottle and on the back label. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
TASTING NOTE: A smaller crop in 2019 resulted in wines of dense concentration, full of flavour and built for extensive ageing. Produced by the famed Antinori family, this exquisite Barolo offers fresh acidity, firm tannins, and complex aromas of sour cherry, rose petal, crushed gravel, leather, and star anise. Serve it tonight after an hour decant or cellar until the mid-2030s. |
