WOODCUTTER'S SHIRAZ 2021 Barossa Valley, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TORBRECK
This is the 14th Vintages release has an extremely deep intense purple ruby colour. Intense, very attractive, complex, spicy, very ripe, black-cherry-blueberry-cassis crumble nose with some faintly smoky, cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, well structured, intense, ripe, plummy, black cherry and cassis flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, gently cedary, slightly smoky, complex finish. This classy, mouthfilling, 100% Shiraz has 15% alcohol, under 3 g/L residual sugar and only 5.7 g/L total acidity with lot number L23152 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Unfiltered and aged for 12 months in well-seasoned French oak hogsheads and Foudre. The screwcap closure means that it can probably keep for another 5-10 years in a proper wine cellar. CSPC 927533

TASTING NOTE: Lovely ripened blackberries and raspberries. Al dente. Full-bodied yet so refined and focused with crisp acidity and ultra-fine, creamy tannins. Succulent and crunchy but focused and structured. Bright and purposeful. Drink after 2024 but already hard to hold back. [This will continue to evolve into the early 2030s.] Score - 96 (jamessuckling.com, Nov. 7, 2022) Price $ 29.95
