BASTIDE MIRAFLORS SYRAH/VIEILLES VIGNES GRENACHE 2020 AP Côtes du Roussillon |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

LA FAGE |
At only $17.95 it's a definite winner. Very deep intense purple in colour, it's loaded with attractive, ripe, cassis-plum-cherry fruit on the nose along with a hint of toast. Dry, medium bodied and bright, the ripe, plum-cherry-cassis flavours are followed up by a lingering, gently cedary, harmonious finish. This tasty, ready-to-drink, crowd-pleasing blend of 70% Syrah (in concrete tanks) and 30% Grenache (in 600 litre oak demi-muid barrels) has 14.5% alcohol and under 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L22333B on the lower part of the glass bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: Tasted twice, two months apart, with consistent notes, the 2020 Côtes du Roussillon Bastide Miraflors is a 70-30 blend of Syrah and Grenache, aged in demi-muids and concrete tanks, respectively. There's a hint of peppermint, but the primary focus here is on the fruit, ranging from blueberries and mulberries into darker notes of plum and dark chocolate. It's full-bodied and creamy in texture, with deliciously supple, soft tannins, which make it exceptionally easy to drink now, but maybe not particularly long-lived. Drink date: [Now]-2027. Score - 90 (Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, March 31, 2023) |
