NORMAN HARDIE UNFILTERED PINOT NOIR 2020 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
NORMAN HARDIE |
This 2020 Niagara Peninsula Pinot Noir has more alcohol and structure than the PEC 2019 which is also in this release. Medium-deep reddish colour with a faint amber on the edge. Intense, complex, mineral-driven, rose hip nose with some faintly earthy, sandalwood-tinged, ripe, plum-crancherry notes. Dry , medium bodied and quite well structured with some faintly grippy, still youthful, crancherry fruit flavours along with a mineral driven, lingering, faintly earthy finish. Try with salmon and poulty. It has nice mouthfeel (unfiltered) and has 13.5% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar. Screwcap closure with lot number 20180208 on the lower part of the glass bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: This is a nicely styled, fresh and complete pinot with a lovely nose of blueberry/raspberry fruit, florals, a hint of peppery spice. It is light to medium bodied, fresh, firm and very well balanced, with fine sandy tannin. A touch of edgy mossiness and bitterness on the finish. Excellent length. Tasted March 2023. Score - 91 (David Lawrason, winealign.com) |
