NORMAN HARDIE UNFILTERED PINOT NOIR 2020 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer NORMAN HARDIE
This 2020 Niagara Peninsula Pinot Noir has more alcohol and structure than the PEC 2019 which is also in this release. Medium-deep reddish colour with a faint amber on the edge. Intense, complex, mineral-driven, rose hip nose with some faintly earthy, sandalwood-tinged, ripe, plum-crancherry notes. Dry , medium bodied and quite well structured with some faintly grippy, still youthful, crancherry fruit flavours along with a mineral driven, lingering, faintly earthy finish. Try with salmon and poulty. It has nice mouthfeel (unfiltered) and has 13.5% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar. Screwcap closure with lot number 20180208 on the lower part of the glass bottle. TASTING NOTE: This is a nicely styled, fresh and complete pinot with a lovely nose of blueberry/raspberry fruit, florals, a hint of peppery spice. It is light to medium bodied, fresh, firm and very well balanced, with fine sandy tannin. A touch of edgy mossiness and bitterness on the finish. Excellent length. Tasted March 2023.
