NEW in Vintages. Deep intense violet purple colour. Rather spicy, fruit-driven, plummy, crancherry nose with some faintly earthy, leafy-raspberry notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite harmonious, bright, ripe, Damson plum fruit with some sandalwood-tinged, blackberry notes on the lingering, bright, slightly savoury, very faint smoke-tinged finish. This blend of 62% Grenache, 31% Shiraz and 17% Mataro has 14.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L3158 on the back label and L2018 T1 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. |

TASTING NOTE: 62/31/7% grenache/shiraz/mataro, the majority 70+yo vines; 16% whole bunches, 12% carbonic maceration; matured in old French oak for 8 months. Vivid red purple in the glass, super-ripe plum and blueberry notes are led by wafts of frangipani over a base of exotic spice, amaro herbs, licorice, earth and cherry danish. A very modern, juicy take on the classic blend, with pure, juicy fruit, tight ripe tannin and a finish that lingers beautifully. It's just great, spicy drinking. Drink by: 2032. Special Value. Score - 96 (Dave Brookes, winecompanion.com.au, March 28, 2022) |
