JOSÉ ZUCCARDI MALBEC 2019 Valle de Uco, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ZUCCARDI |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, complex, gently spicy, attractive, floral, violet-tinged nose with refined, ripe, Damson plum, cherry-cassis notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, very well structured, attractive, plum-black-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering harmonious, slightly spicy, refined, gently cedary finish. This 2019 is the best I have tasted to date. A blend of 95% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is now aged for 24 months in foudres (2500 liters) and barrels (500 liters). It has 14.5% alcohol and 1.8 g/L residual sugar and 5.7 g/L total acidity. |

TASTING NOTE: Aromas of dark berries with licorice and asphalt, as well as black cherries. Pretty clarity to the nose. Full-bodied, yet tight and very reserved with ultra fine tannins that integrate beautifully into the body of the wine. Flavorful and polished. 95% malbec and 5% cabernet sauvignon. Fermented in concrete and aged for more than a year in casks. Try after 2023 [through 2030+]. Score - 95 (jamessuckling.com, April 8, 2021) |
