KATHERINE'S VINEYARD CHARDONNAY 2021 Sustainable, Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CAMBRIA
Here’s a reliable, rich, well structured, very flavourful Santa Barbara Chard that will dance on your tongue with roast chicken, lamb or even lobster bisque. Bright light straw colour with a intense, complex, very attractive, gently buttery, vanilla-driven, lemon meringue nose with lots of mineral notes and a hints of key-lime-rhubarb pie, Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, intense, complex, lemon meringue flavours with a lingering, harmonious, rather toasty, lifted, key lime pie finish. This 2021 is the best yet and was 65% barrel fermented (complete malolactic) and 35% stainless steel fermented with no malolactic fermentation but aged sur lies for 5.5 months before blending and bottling. A surprising 85% is made from old vines planted in the 1970s. It has 13.9% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 20221020 on the back label. CSPC 980490
