THE HEDONIST |
This 14th Vintages release is showing extremely well. Very deep intense purple colour. Intense, gently spicy, cedary, ripe, Damson-plum-black-cherry-cassis nose with some faintly smoky, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, intense, bright, ripe, plum-black-cherry-cassis flavours with an elegant, cedary, lingering, very faintly smoky, mouthfilling finish. Malolactic fermentation took place in oak – a mixture of 50% large French oak foudres and 50% in small 300L seasoned French oak where it with a aged for 18 months. No fining and hence the excellent mouthfeel. It has 14% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 6.5 g/L total acidity. The lot number L1222 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. Truly excellent value and quite ready to enjoy. |
