SHIRAZ 2018 McLaren Vale, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer THE HEDONIST
This 14th Vintages release is showing extremely well. Very deep intense purple colour. Intense, gently spicy, cedary, ripe, Damson-plum-black-cherry-cassis nose with some faintly smoky, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, intense, bright, ripe, plum-black-cherry-cassis flavours with an elegant, cedary, lingering, very faintly smoky, mouthfilling finish. Malolactic fermentation took place in oak – a mixture of 50% large French oak foudres and 50% in small 300L seasoned French oak where it with a aged for 18 months. No fining and hence the excellent mouthfeel. It has 14% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 6.5 g/L total acidity. The lot number L1222 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. Truly excellent value and quite ready to enjoy. CSPC 90191
