CUVÉE III RED 2020 PGI Achaia |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MEGA SPILEO |
This wonderful inspired blend of 40% Mavrodaphne, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Agiorgitiko has a very deep intense purple colour and an intense, floral (violet-tinged), complex, ripe, plum-cassis-black-cherry nose with some slightly smoky, cedar-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, extracty, well structured, still youthful, intense, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a fine mid-palate and a lingering, still somewhat grippy, very bright, lingering, cedary finish. Great in a large Riedel Double Magnum 001 glass and well suited for a rib steak. Has full molactic and was aged in new American oak for 8 months, it has 13% alcohol and 10 g/L residual sugar (albeit no sweetness evident) with lot number L2313 on the back label. Terrific value - it will improve with age. |

TASTING NOTE: This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Mavrodaphne and Agiorgitiko, each vinified separately. It was aged in new oak for eight months and is ripe and complex, with layered red and black fruit, oak spice, vanilla, and a graphite-edged minerality. Perfect for grilled ribs, lamb or hearty stews, it will drink well for another 3+ years. |
