BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2017 DOCG |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TENUTE SILVIO NARDI |
This twelfth Vintages release of Silvio Nardi’s Brunello is showing beautifully now. When it’s this good why wait years? It has a fairly deep bright garnet red colour and a gently spicy, complex, intense, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis nose with some violet-rose floral and gently complex sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, very well structured, faintly spicy, intense, ripe, rounded, plummy-cherry-cassis flavours with a lovely, lingering, gently cedary, mineraly, sandalwood-tinged finish. Has 15.5% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L21/BR-17-1B on the back label. Aged for 12 months in new and used French oak barriques (Allier) followed by 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. |

TASTING NOTE: This is a beautiful, fresh 2017 Brunello with fine tannins and a medium body of cherry, bark, cedar and pine-needle flavors. It's long and polished with ultra-fine tannins and fresh acidity. Nicely done for the vintage. Drink or hold [through late 2030s]. Score - 94 (jamessuckling.com, Nov. 4, 2021) |
