DON'T TELL GARY SHIRAZ 2020 Grampians, Victoria
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MCPHERSON
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Spicy, juicy, very ripe, plummy-back-cherry nose with some vanilla stick and cedar notes. Quite dry, medium bodied, surprisingly well structured, spicy, juicy, intense, ripe black cherry puree flavours with a lingering, bright, harmonious, rather cedary finish. A good-time crowd-pleasing quaffer to be sure that many will love. It has over 15% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. It may, however, be a tad too rambunctious for some. LCBO Text Status A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection!
TASTING NOTE: Matured in 500L French puncheons (80% new). If you haven't already guessed, Gary is the McPherson accountant. A fun title for a wine that enjoys some pretty schmick and expensive oak which is slurped up easily by this super-generous, ripe shiraz. Over-delivers for the price in deep, dark, sweet berries and plums, earth, dark chocolate, toasted spice and nicely integrated oak that brings warmth and immediate drinkability. Special Value.
