Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

CAVE DE TAIN HÉRITIERS GAMBERT NOBLES RIVES |
This delicious 2021 is a very gently smoky, ripe, black-cherry-cassis purée driven 100% Syrah has a very deep intense purple colour,. The attractive nose shows an abundance of spicy, ripe plum and black cherry fruit with some complex, slightly smoky, licorice-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, gently spicy, intense, ripe, plum-crancherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, complex and yet harmonious, faintly smoky finish. Quite ready to drink (it will keep), this classic, northern Rhone Syrah from the small Crozes-Hermitage appellation has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: This characterful wine is from one of the most highly regarded regions in France. Sixty percent was aged for a year in concrete vats, with the remainder aged in 400-litre oak barrels of various ages. It's elegant and fruity, with a fine harmony and weight. Black fruit, black pepper, savoury herbs and smoke make this a great option for grilled lamb. It will drink through 2030+. |
