STELLENBOSCH CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2019 WO Stellenbosch
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer RUSTENBERG
This release value highlight has a deep intense purple colour. Attractive, ripe, gently juicy, plummy nose with some slightly spicy, savoury, cherry notes and a touch of cedar-sandalwood. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, bright, faintly spicy, intense, harmonious, ripe, plum-cassis flavours with a lingering, gently cedary finish. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged of 15 months in 225L French oak (20% new, 40% 2nd, 20% 3rd & 20% 4th fill barrels). It has 14% alcohol, 2.7 g/L residual sugar and 5.5 g/L total acidity. Terrific value - the best release tasted to date. Too bad we had to wait 7 years to see it back in Vintages. CSPC 443374

TASTING NOTE: Ripe, black berry distinction with new oak dusting (20%), gentle muscular feel & ripple of finegrained tannins all indicative of Stellenbosch cab. 2019 also has pleasing freshness but remains youthfully tight, needs time to flesh out, reach full potential.
