MOUNTAIN SELECT CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2019 Atlas Peak, Napa Valley |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ANTICA ) |
At last a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that hits the mark. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, slightly spicy, ripe, expansive, Damson plum nose with some minerally, elegant, cedar-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, very attractive, intense, ripe, harmonious, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, very faintly savoury, minerally, elegant, lifted, cedar-sandalwood-tinged finish. This classy blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc has 14.7% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 20210729 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Select is plush, succulent and super-expressive. Blackberry jam, spice, new leather and chocolate give this inky, opulent wine plenty of complexity. The 2019 is the most flamboyant wine I have tasted from Antica, where the Cabernets have typically been a bit more restrained than this. Drinking window: 2025-2034. Score - 93 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Jan. 2022) |
