JORDAN VILLAGE PINOT NOIR 2020 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LE CLOS JORDANNE
Medium deep garnet red colour. Very bright, slightly spicy, perfumed, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis nose with some refined cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, quite complex, gently tangy, slightly spicy, intense, ripe, plum-cherry-mulberry-cassis flavours with a crisp, slightly spicy, lingering, cedar-tinged finish. After full malolactic the wine is aged for 20 months in premium French oak barrels (20% new) with staves that have been air dried for three years (an expensive process that reduces wood tannins and eliminates any sappy notes). It has 13.5% alcohol, 2.2 g/L residual sugar and 5.5 g/L total acidity with a screwcap closure. CSPC 33894

TASTING NOTE: The Village Pinot has a perfumed nose with earthy/savoury notes, red currants, delicate spice notes, wild red berries and a touch of cassis. It's rich, savoury, and generous on the palate with dark cherries, currants, wild blackberries and silky tannins and elegant spice notes. The finish is long and lifted. Can cellar 4+ years. This was paired with Ontario pork rillettes with onion and parsley salad and bay leaf mustard. Score - 91 (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, Oct. 10, 2022) Price $ 29.95
