TWENTY MILE BENCH PINOT NOIR 2019 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CLOUDSLEY CELLARS
Pale violet-tinged medium red colour. Interesting, complex, still somewhat gamey, sandalwood-tinged, woodsy, raspberry-crancherry nose with some faintly earthy, savoury notes. Dry, medium bodied, somewhat grippy, very bright, intense, crancherry fruit flavours with some cedary, ripe raspberry notes and a long, lingering, bright, still somewhat savoury, grippy finish. Try with Thanksgiving turkey - so plan ahead. It has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number 2021-04-29 on the lower part of the glass bottle. A distinctive style that really should improve with additional aging. CSPC 11665

TASTING NOTE: The Twenty Mile Bench blend of four vineyards, the entry, \"village' level of Cloudsley's three tiers. The colour is pale garnet red with a mix of reduction, rhubarb and leafiness, some wood influence, evolving slowly to be sure - this will need time. The palate is lacy and delicate though firm, underpinned by acids more than tannins, though tannins are grainy and dusty as well and need more time to unwind. The flavour range is very good, as is the length - this hangs on admirably. Drink after 2024. Tasted August 2022. Score - 90 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com) Price $ 34.95
