Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PAUL JABOULET AÎNÉ
Extremely deep purple colour. Intense, complex, slightly spicy, ripe Damson plum nose with some cedar-tinged, faintly earthy, black cherry notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, harmonious, intense, bright, ripe plum and black cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, bright, dense albeit elegant, licorice-tinged finish. Still quite youthful, this 100% Syrah spent 12 months in new French oak and should develop beautifully over the next decade. This excellent Crozes-Hermitage has 14% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L22B205 on the lower part of the glass bottle. It even surpasses my previous best buy 2001 vintage that was released on February 5, 2005. CSPC 720466

TASTING NOTE: A charismatic Crozes-Hermitage with tons of black-plum fruit, as well as hot-asphalt and cocoa powder notes. This is remarkably open for its young age, in spite of the ample structure. Has a bold and tightly knit tannin structure, but should be drinkable from release, thanks to the forthright fruit that is very present at the long, moderately dry finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. [Drink into early 2030s.] Score - 92-93 (jamessuckling.com, April 7, 2022) Price $ 49.00
