SYRAH/VIOGNIER 2019 Valle de Uco, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
EL ENEMIGO |
This ripe, bright, harmonious Argentine blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier has a lot going for it. Surprisingly fresh for a 2019, it has a deep intense purple colour and a very fragrant floral nose with some ripe black cherry fruit. Dry medium-plus bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, juicy, ripe, cassis-black-cherry-plum fruit flavours with a lingering, well balanced, somewhat spicy, cassis-tinged, gently cedary finish. It’s ready-to-drink and has 13.5% alcohol and under 3 g/L residual sugar with number 2-23089 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2019 Syrah-Viognier is mostly Syrah with 10% Viognier from the Uco Valley and was aged for 16 months in used foudres. Purple in the glass. The enticing nose offers notes of violets and plum with hints of tuberose, truffle and blackberry. Silky and fruity in the mouth with extremely fine tannins, the flow is both agile and expansive. An expressive wine inspired by the Côte Rotie, this red delivers delicious flavor. Drinking window: 2022- 2035. Score - 95 (Joaquín Hidalgo, vinous.com, Sept. 2022) |
