POP EXTRA SEC CHAMPAGNE AC, France |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
POMMERY |
A REPEAT of the recommended previous release (***) that was released on November 5, 2022 at $17.95. Here is my previous note: This excellent blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Meunier is almost a Brut. Bright pale straw colour, it has a fresh ripe apple-lemon meringue nose with a touch of toast. Dry, medium-light bodied, attractive, bright, ripe, lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, gently toasty, crisp finish. This surprisingly tasty incredibly convenient 6.8-ounce bottle is the perfect weekend breakfast starter. It has 15+ months lees aging in 750 ml bottles before being seamlessly transferred into these splendid miniatures. Pommery has perfected these 200 ml Champagne bottles along with the genuine wired cork which are filled with the real thing. It has 12.5% alcohol and 12 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: Crafted in a lighter style that really does pop, this is still a serious wine. It shows good focus and poise, with nice fruit and spice notes atop the mineral and bread tones. Charming. |
