PINOT NOIR 2021 Sonoma County |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
HEAD HIGH |
Medium-deep purple in colour, the nose is extremely fruity with lots of attractive, intense, ripe raspberries. Dry, medium bodied, very bright, intense, fresh, ripe, raspberry-red-cherry fruit flavours with a lingering, very faintly smoky, slightly cedary finish. It may taste a tad Zinny for some, but in a nice way. Anyone used to drinking classic Burgundy may wonder what the heck is this. Who cares? Although not for everyone, this versatile, ready-to-drink, crowd-pleaser has plenty of appeal. It has 14.5% alcohol and 2.4 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
TASTING NOTE: The drought conditions of 2021 gave rise to grapes of great concentration and quality. This Pinot was sourced from vineyards across Sonoma County, each planted with the same clonal selections but reflecting the varied topography and mesoclimates of their specific sites. The final result is a dynamic wine with bold cherry tones and notes of forest floor, herbs and spice. |
