CHÂTEAU MARJOSSE 2011 AC Bordeaux
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer
It's very hard to find perfectly drinkable mature 12-year-old Bordeaux at this price point. Deep garnet-purple-red colour, the nose shows great complexity with lots of mature Damson plum fruit and gently earthy, leafy notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, earthy, mature, plum fruit with some very faintly bitter, rusty iron notes on the lingering, complex, slightly herbaceous finish. From Pierre Lurton's Entre-deux-Mers estate this blend of 85% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec. If you lare a fan of aged Bordeaux, this must buy would be perfect with a T-bone steak. It has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LJ219613 on the back label. CSPC 500348

TASTING NOTE: This lovely wine was a major success for the vintage. The wine's original ripe dark berry, plum and cherry tones will have evolved to express dried fruit supported by mature tones of old leather and earth. A remarkable example of the longevity of Bordeaux, even at modest price points. Drink now. Price $ 22.95
