GRAND CRU BLANC DE BLANCS CHAMPAGNE 2008 AC, France
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LE MESNIL
Bright light yellow colour with lots of effervescent tiny bubbles. Intense, faintly spicy, buttery, ripe lemon nose with lots of toasty honeyed brioche notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, harmonious, slightly spicy, intense, ripe lemon meringue flavours with a toasty, complex, bright, lingering, slightly bruised apple finish. Lovely texture, balance and mouthfeel - superb with a lobster bisque. It shows some maturity but with good acidity still has a long way to go. This batch spent 12 years on the lees and was recently disgorged in December 2021 (1221 on the cork). It has 12.5% alcohol and under 6 g/L residual sugar with lot number L2008/18.21.347.4B on the lower part of the glass bottle. An outstanding traditional “goût anglais”(English taste) style with the grapes coming exclusively from Grand Cru sites. CSPC 514208

TASTING NOTE: Made from 100% Chardonnay, this is serious bubbly with a complex array of green apple, citrus zest, toasted nuts, and salty-buttery biscuit. Tons of crisp, zippy acidity carries through the long, lovely finish. A real stunner and a great fizz for the Chardonnay fanatics out there. Price $ 145.95
