OLLI GRILLO 2021 DOP Sicilia |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
FEUDO MACCARI |
Ready to drink and reasonably priced Sicilian whites are becoming increasing popular. This one has a bright medium-light straw colour and an attractive, gently spicy, slightly floral, honeyed, pear-lemon-melon-apple puree nose with some slight mineral notes. Dry and medium to medium-light bodied, it has spicy, minerally, crisp, red apple and yellow plum flavours with a lingering, gently tangy, unoaked finish. Try with seafood and/or poultry. Planted in 2002 this 100% bush vine Grillo from Noto on the southernmost tip of Sicily has 13% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L5722 on the back label. This is its sixth appearance in Vintages. |

TASTING NOTE: A fragrant nose of peach, jasmine and fresh flowers. Medium-bodied with zippy acidity and some mineral notes that add welcome depth to the bright stone and citrus fruit. So fresh. Drink now. Score - 92 (jamessuckling.com, Aug. 17, 2022) |
