VIÑA TONDONIA RESERVA 2011 DOCa Rioja
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer R. LÓPEZ DE HEREDIA
This one-of-a-kind red from LÓPEZ DE HEREDIA has a very slightly ambering fairly deep ruby red colour with some garnet notes on the edges. The nose is intense, very complex, spicy, cedary and somewhat earthy with rustic, sandalwood-tinged, maturing, Damson plum fruit along with some hints of cassis and faintly leafy sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, complex, minerally, intense, somewhat maturing, Damson plum fruit along with a touch of cassis on the lingering, rather cedary, sandalwood-tinged finish. This blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha and 10% Mazuelo and Graciano has 13% alcohol, under 2 g/L residual sugar and 6.6 g/L total acidity with lot number L-1056 on the back label. It was aged for six years in 225 L American barrels which were made at the winery from imported Appalachian mountain oak and bottled without filtration. A bit of an acquired taste and not be equally appealing to everyone. CSPC 356337
