RED BLEND 2019 California
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer UNSHACKLED
A REPEAT of the 2019 (**+) was released on January 8, 2022 at $29.95. Here is my previous tasting note. This very deep intense purple coloured California blend of Zinfandel, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache has a very fruity, intense, spicy, rather cedary nose with lots of ripe, plummy, black cherries. It’s quite dry, medium to medium-full bodied, harmonious and ready-to-drink with an abundance of rich, ripe fruit balanced by a wave of toasty, cedary flavours that show good length and decent acidity. There’s nothing subtle about this crowd-pleaser which has 14.5% alcohol, 7 g/L residual sugar with lot number 0215 2102 and 2120805 on the lower part of the glass bottle. It is barrel-aged in French and American oak casks for 11 months before bottling. CSPC 22597

TASTING NOTE: California is renowned for ripe and robust red wines, and Unshackled Red Blend 2019 is an outstanding example of a premium wine at a great price! Bold and beautiful, Unshackled Red Blend incorporates Zinfandel, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Tannat, and Tempranillo, to produce a very complex and attractive wine showing smoky dark fruit, field berries, cherry Danish with a super creamy and smooth finish. A great wine to enjoy year round with hearty pasta dishes, smoked brisket, BBQ fare, and aged cheese, but equally great enjoyed on its own.
