PINOT NOIR 2020 North Canterbury, South Island |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
NOR'WESTER BY GREYSTONE |
New in Vintages. This introductory tier of Greystone comes from various vineyards in North Canterbury. Bright medium-deep red colour. Fairly intense, slightly spicy, ripe, strawberry-raspberry-red-cherry fruit on the nose with some complex, very gently earthy, leafy, very faintly reductive, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied albeit fairly quite well structured, firm, bright, ripe, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, high-acid, schisty, red licorice-tinged, slightly cedary finish. Fermented in small batch lots with wild yeasts, hand plunged daily for a month and aged 9 months in French oak. It has 13% alcohol and under 2 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. |
