FAZZIO MALBEC 2020 Sustainable, Tupungato, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LA POSTA |
This appealing, entry-level, crowd-pleaser has a very deep intense purple colour. The nose is spicy and very juicy - shades of raspberry jam with lots of cedary notes. On the palate it is fairly dry and medium bodied with those spicy, juicy, bright, raspberry fruit flavours followed up by a lingering, crisp, cedary finish. Not overly complex, it’s ready and easy to drink with 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number 22332 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: Planted a decade and a half ago in Tupungato, at an altitude of about 1,150 meters in the north of the Uco Valley, in this vintage, which was very warm throughout Mendoza, the Fazzio family vineyard gives a wine generous in black fruits and notes of sweet spices. The palate has toasted notes from aging in barrels (50% of the volume for 10 months) as well as firm tannins for grilled pork. [Drink through 2026+.] Score - 92 (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2022) |
