JORDAN VILLAGE PINOT NOIR 2020 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LE CLOS JORDANNE |
Fairly deep garnet red colour. Attractive, bright, very slightly spicy, perfumed, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis nose with refined cedar-vanilla notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, quite complex, intense, ripe, mouthfilling, plum-crancherry-cassis flavours with a crisp, slightly spicy, lingering, gently cedary finish. After full malolactic the wine is aged for 20 months in premium French oak barrels (25% new) with staves that have been air dried for three years. It has 13.5% alcohol, 1.5 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 6.4 g/L total acidity. Bottled in June 2022, it comes with a screwcap closure. It is showing better today after more time in bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: The Village Pinot has a perfumed nose with earthy/savoury notes, red currants, delicate spice notes, wild red berries and a touch of cassis. It's rich, savoury, and generous on the palate with dark cherries, currants, wild blackberries and silky tannins and elegant spice notes. The finish is long and lifted. Can cellar 4+ years. This was paired with Ontario pork rillettes with onion and parsley salad and bay leaf mustard. Score - 91 (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, Oct. 10, 2022) |
