AXIA SYRAH/XINOMAVRO 2019 Vegan, PGI Florina |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ALPHA ESTATE |
Very deep intense purple colour. Gently spicy, plummy, dried crancherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, well balanced, bright, slightly spicy, gently juicy, ripe, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, crisp, sandalwood-tinged finish. Aged on its lees for seven months with regular stirring and then matured for 12 months in 100% Allier oak casks (medium to light toast), this tasty blend has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Quite ready to drink. |

TASTING NOTE: The wines of Alpha Estate have a poised, polished character that separates them from many of their top-performing peers. The Axia Syrah/Xinomavro has evolved into a thoroughly modern-styled offering, with ripe dark berry, peppery spice, clove and vanilla notes. It has the oomph to last into the early-to-mid-2030s. Try it with a chili featuring lentils and black beans. |
