ASSYRTIKO 2021 PGI Peloponnese
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MEGA SPILEO
This remarkable 2021 Mega Spileo is NEW in Vintages and possibly the best value white in this release. Bright very pale straw colour, it has an attractive, very slightly spicy, faintly floral, ripe, lemon-apple-melon nose with some mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, tangy, quite well structured, fairly intense, ripe, lemon-apple fruit flavours with a lingering, crisp, unoaked, bright finish. Aged for two months on its lees in a combination of steel tanks and barrels, this 100% Assyrtiko has 12.5% alcohol and 1 g/L residual sugar with lot number L22210 on the back label. Great with seafood. CSPC 31680

TASTING NOTE: For the 2021 vintage, about 20% of this wine was fermented in new oak while the remainder was cold-fermented in stainless steel. It's energetic and intense, with lifted floral, peach and tropical notes. A refreshing, satisfying sipper, it will also be wonderful with fish or a roasted-tomato soup. Drink now to 2024+.
