CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2021 California
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer UNSHACKLED
This multi-regional new California blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petite Sirah, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Tannat has very little to do with the Cab Sauv style that is produced elsewhere in the world, especially in France at the $30 mark. That’s not to say that it’s bad, it’s just different and stylistically unexpected. In fact, it’s an easy to drink, very faintly off-dry, wide-appeal, fruity red blend that lots of people will enjoy. Deep purple in colour, it has a very fruity nose focused on plummy, black cherry fruit along with some cedary notes. It’s just off-dry and medium to medium-full bodied with smooth, juicy, ripe, plummy, black cherry and raspberry fruit flavours plus a lingering, somewhat spicy, ginger-cedar finish.Aged 9 months in oak (10% new) 85% American and 15% French. It has 14.9% alcohol and 3.7 g/L residual sugar with lot numbers L0334 220114 and 2722218 on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 17812
