WINEMAKER'S BLEND RED 2020 VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

THIRTY BENCH |
For me, the new 2020 edition of this Vintages Essential is the best release to date scoring 93-points, It has a very deep intense purple colour and lovely, intense, ripe, Damson plum fruit along with black cherry, blueberry and cassis notes on the elegantly cedary nose. Dry, medium to medium-plus bodied, complex, harmonious, intense, plum-black-cherry-cassis flavours followed up by a lingering, bright, very attractive, gently cedary finish. This totally new remarkable blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and 22% Merlot has 13.4% alcohol, 2. g/L residual sugar and a perfect 6.6g/L total acidity. Barrel aged in 40% American and 60% French oak for 12 months with full malolactic fermentation. Showing beautifully now with lots of ripe mouthfilling fruit. This bottle with lot number 22-272 on the lower part of the glass (September 29, 2022) was tasted on March 31, 2023. A not to be missed bargain. |
