| Here is another excellent South African Chenin Blanc from winemaker Jacques de Klerk at a reasonable price. Light medium straw in colour, this 100% old bush vine Chenin Blanc has an intense, complex, fruity nose focused on ripe, apricot, pear, apple and yellow plum with some spicy, faintly honeyed, minerally notes. Dry, medium bodied and well structured, the fairly extracty flavours are focused on ripe binned apples , melon and yellow-plum fruit. It has a lingering, mineral-tinged, fleshy, harmonious finish. Still fairly youthful, it can age and improve for a few more years. It has 12% alcohol, 1.6 g/L residual sugar and a somewhat modest 5.4 g/L total acidity with lot number L21341 on the back label. Screwcap closure. Great with poultry. |
