CHARDONNAY 2020 Monterey, Sonoma and Santa Barbara counties |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

A REPEAT of the 2020 (-) was released on October 8, 2022 at $22.95 and was not assessed. Here is my new note: This crowd-pleaser typifies the new direction of California Chardonnay with less emphasis on oak and more on freshness. Bright medium-light straw colour, it has a spicy, faintly honeyed, floral, ripe melon-lemon-apple purée nose with some toasty-mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, spicy, ripe, melon-apple-lemon flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, faintly tropical, citrusy finish. It’s ready-to-drink and will work well with poultry. Has 13.5% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with lot number 22108 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. |

TASTING NOTE: What's that they say: three's company? That's certainly the case for this classy Chardonnay sourced from sites in Monterey, Sonoma and Santa Barbara. It was fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, gaining its opulence from lees stirring. A juicy, ripe wine, with tropical fruit, apple, citrus, baking spices, a touch of honey, and a fine minerality. |
