RED TWISTED 2020 Sustainable, VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
FLAT ROCK |
This very tasty new 2020 crowd-pleasing blend of 72% Gamay, 25% Merlot and 3% Pinot Noir (no Cabernet Franc) has a fairly deep purple colour. The nose is fresh, bright and attractive with slightly spicy, ripe, plummy-cherry-raspberry fruit. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, tangy, very fresh, ripe olum-crancherry-raspberry flavours with a crisp, seemingly unoaked, well balanced finish. This Vintages Essential has 12% alcohol and 2.4 g/L residual sugar with 6 g/L total acidity. Screwcap closure. It’s quite ready-to-drink and would be perfect with poultry, salmon, even tomato-based pasta dishes. Bottled August 2012. |

TASTING NOTE: Fruit-driven, youthful and lively with a velvety mouthfeel, the 2020 Red Twisted is mostly Gamay with 25% Merlot and just a 3% splash of Pinot Noir. A wine that will delight in all aspects and is super food-friendly. It will pair with a wide range of grilled foods; give it a go with barbecued duck. |
