FERMENTED IN CLAY CHENIN BLANC 2021 WO Western Cape
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CATHERINE MARSHALL
Fermented in stone cast amphorae, this 100% Chenin Blanc has a bright medium-light straw colour and classy, intense, complex, very minerally, ripe, lemon-apple meringue fruit along with some toasty notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, very well structured, intense, faintly spicy, still-firm, complex, classy, youthful, lemon-apple meringue flavours with lingering, mouthfilling, very bright, minerally notes. Should be wonderful with a rich lobster bisque. It has 14% alcohol, 1.8 g/L residual sugar and 5.6 g/L total acidity with lot number L21343 on the back label. It comes in a very heavy bottle with a red wax sealed neck and definitely needs time to open (tasted even better the next day). NEW in Vintages. CSPC 26345

TASTING NOTE: Sold as a Western Cape white because it's a 70/30 cuvée of grapes from Elgin and Stellenbosch. Fermented in amphoras and old barrels, the result is rich yet refreshing with aniseed and oatmeal aromas, lots of citrus and green apple and a bright, tapering finish. Delicious. 2023-28.
