TRIOMPHE CABERNET FRANC 2019 Vegan, VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

SOUTHBROOK |
I am surprised how rich and ripe this Cabernet Franc tastes considering that it had only 21.6 brix at harvest with a final alcohol level of 12.2% along with a hefty 7 g/L total acidity which perfectly balances the just under 4 g/L residual sugar. Deep intense purple colour, there’s lots of attractive raspberry-black-cherry fruit on the nose with some earthy-cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, harmonious, bright, plum, cherry and cassis flavours with only a touch of the leafy, greenish notes that usually characterizes this grape variety. If anything, it is leaning in a black cherry Merlot direction which is something that I happen to enjoy. Nice mouthfeel, this Cab Franc is worth buying and is ready-to-drink. Screwcap closure with lot number 2021 01 20 on the lower part of the glass bottle suggests that it was bottled on January 20, 2021. NEW in Vintages. |

TASTING NOTE: This wine was hand-harvested from certified organic vineyards across Niagara. Grapes were clustersorted and gently destemmed, with 50% crushing before indigenous fermentation and malolactic conversion in oak vats. Look for notions of violets, blueberries, earthy cedar and smoke and savour with ratatouille or stuffed bell peppers. |
