GRATIOT DELUGNY ALFRED CHAMPAGNE 2004 Traditional method, AC, France |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
GRATIOT DELUGNY |
Bright medium straw colour with tiny bubbles and very good effervescence. Attractive, intense, gently toasty, mineral-tinged, ripe, lemon-apple-melon meringue with some buttery brioche notes. Very dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, very slightly spicy, intense, rounded, ripe, apricot-melon-apple-lemon fruit flavours with a lingering, harmonious, bright, buttery brioche finish. Perfectly accessible now with fine length and complexity, it has 12% alcohol and only 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L220704 on the back label. This 100% Chardonnay was disgorged in JULY 2022 after 17 years on the lees. Tasted in three glasses - ISO, Rosenthal and Riedel - best in ISO and Riedel. Glasses with a tapering upper section were best highlighting flavours and crispness. |
