RUSSIAN RIVER SELECTION PINOT NOIR 2019 Russian River Valley, Sonoma County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer GARY FARRELL
Sonoma’s Russian River Valley is famous for its refined Pinot Noir and this 2019 from Gary Farrell is one of them. It has a medium-deep red colour. The very attractive, wild rose, fresh plum-cherry purée nose provides us with a refined rendition how this grape behaves in a truly privileged New World terroir. Dry, medium bodied, well balanced and elegant, the rose-tinged, ripe plum, red and black cherry fruit flavours have some bright raspberry notes followed up by a lingering, gently cedary, minerally finish. This classy 100% Pinot Noir is ready to drink and a pleasure on the palate. It was aged 10 months on its primary lees in French oak (30% new) and has 13.9% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar, 6.6 g/L total acidity with lot number WS2020-03-22 on the lower part of the glass bottle. TASTING NOTE: Aromas of wild cherry, plum, crushed stone and ocean breeze. Medium-bodied with integrated tannins. An array of red fruit and fresh, colored flowers fills the palate. Very flavorful and satisfying. Bright acidity and a mineral edge keep the palate driven and dynamic. Lingering finish. Lovely. Drink or hold.
